Balancing Growth with Genuine Connections

Jackson offers the practical advantages that make life easier, including a reasonable cost of living, accessible healthcare, strong schools, and short commutes that give residents the gift of time. But daily life is also enriched by experiences, concerts and gatherings at The AMP at the Market in downtown Jackson, a thriving downtown, great restaurants and vibrant street art that brings creativity into public spaces, and a growing energy that makes the city feel alive and evolving.

With Tennessee’s mild seasons and beautiful weather, outdoor living is part of the culture. From walking trails and parks to festivals, farmers markets, and community events, there are countless opportunities to be outside and engaged. Here, people put down roots, invest in one another, and enjoya life that feels both grounded and full. The gift of time, the gift of community. Jackson is a gift.

The AMP at the Market

Located in the heart of Jackson, near the West Tennessee Farmers’ Market and the Jackson Walk, Jackson’s AMP at the Market is an open-air concert venue that has been hosting free summer concerts since 2014. The AMP is a collaborative project between the City of Jackson, West Tennessee Farmers’ Market, Jackson Downtown Development Corporation, Jackson Arts Council, Visit Jackson, and numerous community volunteers. The space celebrates the region’s rich musical heritage with local and regional artists in a family-friendly setting. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcomed and encouraged as guests enjoy free live music in the open air. Food concessions from local small businesses allow patrons to further enjoy the fun. During their inaugural season, the AMP received the Tennessee Statewide Four-Star Award for Excellence in new facility design by the Tennessee Recreation & Parks Association based on its design, land usage, positive impact on the community, and community partnerships involved.

Outdoor Activities

Jackson offers a wide range of outdoor activities that keep the community active and connected. From organized sports to green spaces and local markets, there are countless ways for residents to enjoy time outdoors.

One of the city’s standout athletic destinations is the West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex, a premier youth baseball facility. With 17 fields and a full calendar of tournaments, it attracts teams from across the region, and was recently named USSSA complex of the year.

Celebrating the spirit of competition and community, Jackson is home to the State Games of Tennessee. This annual multi-sport event brings athletes of all ages and skill levels from across the state to compete in various sports.

Jackson has also embraced the growing popularity of pickleball, with new courts across the city, encouraging friendly competition and active lifestyles. For those drawn to nature, Middle Fork Bottoms State Park offers miles of trails, wetlands, and waterways to explore. The city’s outdoor culture is perfectly rounded out by the West Tennessee Farmers’ Market, bringing fresh, local food and community together each weekend downtown.

“Jackson has a very special community oriented running culture. We are full of runners of all ages, goals, and abilities. While the community is large enough to have organized runs throughout each week and races almost every weekend, it is small enough that everyone knows and supports one another.”
